Trump and Birthers

When a blowhard, egotist and probably white supremacist, red-necked racist, like Donald Trump, starts questioning the birth, citizenship, and fitness of our President, I immediately spring into action investigating why doth this "lady protesteth so much."

....I don't know how true it is that Trump was born in So. Africa, but if true, then Trump's questioning of President Obama's birth certificate and asserting his unfitness to be president, is disingenuous in the least, and bold-face, white supremacist hubris at best....

This arrogant ass has also filed for bankruptcy 3 or 4 times already, and apparently can't profitably run 'can't-miss' cash-cows like casinos successfully, thinks he has what it takes to be a successful president. And on top of these business failures, he has a string of about 5 failed marriages in his wake! He also claims to be a billionaire - what billionaire have you ever heard of, who is employed by someone else? - in this case, the NBC network is his employer.

Oh well, another one joins the sordid sludge inhabited by the likes of Sarah Palin, John McCain and others of their pitiful and ignorant ilk.

Myths and Realities

Senator James Webb of Virginia, just wrote an article for the WSJ declaring that 'white privilege is a myth' and diversity instituted to counteract it, has put whites at a disadvantage and has marginalized many of them.

If white privilege is a myth, try asking white Q.B. Ben Roethlisberger who has been accused of criminal sexual assault, twice, in the past year by different women, and is still walking around un-indicted and has suffered only a mere slap on the wrist and a brief suspension by the NFL - contrast that with black Q.B. Michael Vick, who was accused of criminally assaulting dogs, and wound up convicted and serving time in a Federal Pen and forfeiting over $100 million in future salary.

Or ask the white women who benefitted most from the affirmative action laws of the 60s, which were originally intended for blacks but extended to include women, 99% of whom were white. In my company they were promoted from clerical and secretarial positions to managerial positions without an undergraduate degree, and leapfrogged over many qualified blacks who had degrees. And some were even promoted to V.P. positions depending on how avidly and enthusiastically they took care of their bosses personal needs.

Or the then 23-yr. old segregationist, Strom Thurmond, who raped the 16 yr old daughter of his family's black maid, and was able to cover up the rape and impregnation, and subsequent birth of his daughter throughout his entire political career spanning 70+years. Only after his death did we find out about her when she wrote a book on her life and her father's, and toured to promote the book.

Or ask the 4 white officers who savagely beat Rodney King (on tape) in the 90s, and were acquitted by an all-white jury...

Or ask OJ Simpson, who was acquitted criminally, but was hurriedly convicted civilly by an all-white jury, and subsequently jailed 13 years later on charges of stealing his own memorabilia....

Or ask black wide-receiver Plexico Burris, jailed (at the insistence of a white, Jewish mayor intent on burnishing his tough-on-crime creds) in state prison for shooting himself in a night club with his own gun....

Or ask Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson, Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton - all whites who have been arrested repeatedly for drunken DUIs, spousal assaults, no driver's licenses etc. and released to repeat it over and over again (without even running afoul of California's 3-strikes law)...

Or ask the white transit cop in Oakland, who recently murdered a black suspect in cold blood as he lay face-down on the ground defenselessly, but given only an involuntary manslaughter conviction by a mostly white jury instead of the 1st degree murder verdict that was deserved. He got away with it because he claimed he was reaching for his stun gun but grabbed his pistol instead, and accidentally used it on the suspect...

Or ask Dan Gilbert, the spurned owner of the Cleveland Cavs, who wasn't even decent enough, grateful enough, nor gracious enough to thank his best Buck, LeBron, for the 7 long years he labored on the Cavs plantation, and for the multiple millions he brought onto the coffers of his Master. Instead he excoriated and 'dissed him publicly as a slaveholder might, upon learning his best slave had opted to gain his freedom and was running away to greener pastures.

Or ask the Tea Partyers who know if they were black, they would never be allowed to carry guns to rallies, hoist racist anti-white signs, spit on white congresspersons, nor engage in all the other outrages that are routine for whites but would never be allowed for blacks.

Yes, white privilege is indeed alive and well, and works wonderfully for whites when they desire to access and exercise their privileges....

'Reverse Racism'??

Recently I was accused of 'reverse-racism' by a black conservative ex-colleague..this is how I responded to her...

'Of all of the instances of inexcusable ignorance, it is of those blacks who are ignorant of white racism, and either excuse it as being benign, or conveniently ignore it altogether. When a black person accuses another of 'reverse-racism', they are implicitly accepting this phony made-up term by white racists, who devised it to 'flip-the-script' on blacks and fool them into believing and accepting a specious premise - that blacks can be, and are, as racist as white folks.

Not only is this premise false, but it ignores the realty that there can be no effective racism without the necessary power to implement and execute it - something whites have always had, and blacks have seldom, if ever had.'

Where's the Cos.....?

Where's the Cos, when we need him????

The Cos of course is Bill Cosby, who made a small fortune writing a book and making numerous speeches and media appearances, lambasting poor blacks for their deficient English and speaking skills. His payoff besides the money, was the pat on the head from grateful whites and some blacks for his willingness to "tell it like it is" at the expense of blacks who can't defend themselves.

We'll, since the election, there has been no shortage of articles, opinion pieces and essays, about the butchering of the language by Caribou Barbie, better known as Sarah Palin. She has been charitably described as "an air-head with a scrambled brain between her head and her mouth". Her inability to put a coherent sentence together or answer simple questions, made the jobs of comedy writers easier than it had ever been. Her well-publicized ignorance of basic geography, politics, and the world in general, had most shaking their heads in disbelief.

Yet, none of this has stirred Cosby to rise up in indignation and disgust at her lack of the essentials that he was so quick to publicly criticize poor blacks for. Why is this?.. Is it because blacks are an easier, safer target, whereas targeting a stupid, ignorant white woman who happens to be a state governor and who could possibly retaliate, is a risk he's unwilling to accept?... In other words I suspect he is a cowardly opportunist, that genuflects and bows to white dysfunctions and mediocrities, but can't abide the same things among those who happen to look like him.

I am patiently waiting for Cos to apply the same standards that he has set forth for the black poor, to this cartoonish joke of an ex-V.P. candidate, named Sarah Palin, and her pregnant, unwed, high school drop-out daughter.

Of course I don't expect to hear a peep from him unless he can figure out a way to parlay it into a profitable book deal, while avoiding being lynched by many of the rabid and loyal Palin supporters, who also vociferously called for the lynching of Barack Obama.

This is how the brilliant article by Frank Rich of the NYTimes starts off, as he reviews Thomas's new book, "My Grandfather's Son", and his '60 Minutes' guest appearance last Sunday evening.

Early this morning, C-Span2 re-broadcasted their live coverage of a book signing for Thomas hosted by Armstrong Williams, and this was the first time I had ever seen major republican political players, in an informal and unscripted social setting.

At the risk of sounding overly dramatic, I was struck by how 'normal' this event seemed, considering that most of those attending were right-wing republican ideologues and key supporters and purveyors of one of the most inhumane, costly, deadly and disastrous wars in US history. Attending were luminaries like V.P. Chaney, John Bolton, Michael Chertoff, Arlen Specter, Sen. Lindsay Graham, Thomas and his wife Virginia, most of the supreme court justices and their wives , and even black sportscaster, Stephen A. Smith.

The light-hearted banter and joking that flowed between the attendees, belied their deadly, flawed politics. As a comparison, I remember reading of the many social events and classical/opera concerts that leading Nazi party officials loved to attend in Germany, during WW2. The authors of those reports could not understand how architects of the evils of Nazism, could seem so 'normal' and yet be so evil. Likewise, the air of conviviality at this book signing, and it's 'fiddling while Rome is burning' in Iraq, and as it did at Katrina, seemed surreal and strange to me, and gave me an eerie and disquieted feeling while watching it.

Thomas was very upbeat and jocular while uttering bromides like "stay positive and think positive" to his well-wishers. When asked whether he read Anita Hill's NYTimes op-ed rebuttal to his books assertions, he just laughed and sneered dismissively that he would never, ever, waste his time reading it.

So this was just a tiny glimpse into Clarence Thomas's world and those who share it with him.....Happily, I want no part of that slimy world.
